Experience floatation therapy in Melbourne at Gravity Wellness, where a private float tank session removes all external input so your body and mind can fully recalibrate.
You’ve tried early nights, holidays, and weekends off, but the exhaustion doesn’t lift. The mental noise follows you everywhere, and even when your body is still, your mind keeps going. Something deeper needs to reset, and sleep alone isn’t getting you there.
You float effortlessly in a private pod filled with warm, high-density salt water, with all light and sound removed. Your body becomes weightless, your nervous system stops processing external input, and within minutes, most people reach a state of deep calm that’s difficult to achieve any other way. Sessions run for 60 or 90 minutes, and many people describe the feeling as waking up from the best sleep of their life.
Absolutely blissful experience. I felt recharged and refreshed afterwards. But most importantly the staff were friendly and professional and the centre was clean and serene. I was a sceptic initially but Gravity has changed all that after one float. I have floated three times and urge anyone to come to Gravity float and immerse yourself in the whole experience more than once to really enjoy its benefits. I was lucky enough to meet the owners on my second float and I must say that I have never met a more dedicated and passionate business couple in my life. They have left their personal touch on this place. Sorry, I am off to Gravity right now for a float …..
I have been a member of Gravity Float for more than two years and can truly say that this place is a haven away from the hustles and bustles of everyday life. The staff are always so lovely, kind, patient and accommodating that I always feel welcomed here. The facilities are clean and the magnesium float pods are so rejuvenating. I can happily say that I will continue to be a member here and treat this as a sanctuary to enjoy some peace, solicitude and relaxation.
Just had my first float experience thanks to a gift card from my partner for Christmas. I was quite anxious prior because I have experienced a stroke, I’m not by any means lithe and I’m a big girl. The staff who looked after me were lovely and helpful. The float itself was amazing. I struggle with mobility and couldn’t figure how I might bring the lid down while trying to get into the pod so I had to leave it open. It didn’t matter…I managed to let go and completely relax and focus on my breathing. Getting out was a challenge because I had to kneel to counter the forces of the float. Kneeling is extremely painful for me due to arthritis. In spite of the challenges, I’d really recommend this to anyone who lives with pain and anxiety. I came out feeling relaxed and could feel how it reduced the pain I experience immediately. I’m booked in again for next week! Bring it on.
Love this floatation centre for so many reasons. The staff are amazing, knowledgeable and happy to help. The manager is actually passionate about the healing power that is offered. The waiting area is super chill always a yummy tea and water on offer. The infrared sauna is equip with Bluetooth connection so I connect up a meditation mix through my mobile phone lay back and relax. A robe is provided for ease of then moving the the flotation room. The float rooms are large, shower equipped, music plays you have the option of leaving on or turning off pod lights and of course open or closing the pod lid. Afterwards you have plenty of time to shower, change and you can move to the ‘hair drying station’. This area has straighteners curlers and hair dryers. I bought an intro pass for infrared and float – which is CRAZY cheap to buy. Next on my list is trying the massage services. Highly highly recommend giving Gravity a shot the location is also super convenient afterward go for brunch, lunch or dinner at one of the amazing high st locations!
This was my first experience with the infrared sauna. I had read the benefits and had researched. Everything I have read was positive. Easy to Navigate and your own private room. I had read what to do as a lead up, eat light and drink a glass of water before your session. And I have to say I loved it. Got up to 60 degrees, the highest recommended and it didn’t take long to feel the tension and muscle soreness leave the body. I am feeling great and very Zen. Cannot wait for next session. This is now the next day and I still feel great. I highly recommend the infrared sauna to anyone who has muscle soreness and suffers from ongoing injury also. I have started up running again and I also go to the gym and do resistance training and cardio and my hip flexor is a constant source of pain. I have felt the difference after only one session. Next will be the float pod to try.
Tried floating for the first time and while I don’t think floating is for me, this place deserves a 5 star for sure. My technician explained the process and what to expect when floating thoroughly. Everything was clean and dry it was immaculate, not even a single hair or wet spot to be found on the floor. Shampoo, body wash, conditioner, towels, facial wipes, ear plugs, hair dryers etc all provided you literally just need to rock up and enjoy the relaxing experience. For those who do enjoy floating this is the place to come!
Been to gravity float several times now and every experience has been excellent. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and professional. The float pods and rooms are well taken care of and clean. They’re also now NDIS providers which makes it a lot more affordable for me and others on the NDIS to go more regularly. (The casual prices are still good if your not on the NDIS). I would highly recommend going to gravity float and I look forward to more appointments in the future.
Floatation therapy has been a game changer for helping cope with anxiety and OCD. It is an activity that allows my brain to rest and give me calm and peace. The one hour floats feels like an uninterrupted 8 hours sleep. Let me not forget to also thank all of the staff as they have been accommodating and understanding, not to mention extremely welcoming, when I finally felt comfortable to discuss my reasons for seeking out their facility and services. Thank you to everyone I have interacted with at Gravity.
I’ve been to other float spaces that try to sell you packages whilst you’re super zonked out afterwards. It’s not nice being constantly barraged as a consumer online let alone offline whilst vulnerable. This space did not do that. The add ons were gently mentioned, which I appreciated, as well as the signage in the rooms explaining the sequential procedure of the experiences. Float tank, Infrared – but I forgot to ask if you need to expose all of your skin to get the full benefits, or if laying/sitting in one spot is good enough. All in all, I enjoyed the space and would recommend. The inclusive take home ear plugs was a nice surprise and maybe worth an advertised mention too. Thank you
Floatation therapy works exceptionally well for people dealing with chronic stress, poor sleep, anxiety, chronic pain, inflammation, and burnout, as well as athletes who want faster recovery and professionals who need a genuine mental reset. It’s also a powerful support for people carrying emotional weight, trauma, or tension that hasn’t responded to other approaches. Floatation therapy may not be suitable for people with certain skin conditions, recent tattoos, epilepsy, or severe claustrophobia, and our team will always discuss your individual circumstances before you book.
We're Victoria's first and largest float centre with over ten years of experience. This isn't a trend for us. It's what we were built to do.
Every modality we offer has been chosen based on scientific evidence. We don't add services because they're popular. We add them because they work.
Every room is private and confidential. We believe wellness is a personal practice, not a group activity. No distractions, no noise, just you and your wellbeing.
We help determine the right therapies for your body and build a plan around your goals. We care about what you need, not just what you ask for.
Our services are designed as an integrated system. Each therapy supports your nervous system from a different angle, compounding benefits rather than treating symptoms in isolation.
Thousands of glowing reviews and no complaints over decades of operation. Our team goes the extra mile because your wellbeing matters to them personally.
You don’t need to bring anything special, just shower before you enter the pod and avoid caffeine for a couple of hours beforehand. When you arrive at our Melbourne centre, our team will walk you through everything so there are no surprises, especially if it’s your first time. After your session, most people feel deeply calm, clear-headed, and grounded, and that effect often continues for hours. For lasting results, we recommend starting with a series of sessions and pairing float therapy with infrared sauna or massage to compound the benefits.
We offer transparent session pricing with 60 and 90 minute float options available as casual bookings, value packs, or as part of a membership for those who want to make floatation a regular part of their wellness routine. Packs and memberships are priced to make ongoing sessions genuinely accessible, not a luxury. Reach out to our team for a personalised recommendation or book your first float online today.
No, you don’t need to bring anything. We recommend floating in the nude, we will provide you with a private room fitted with a shower, towel, shower products, ear plugs and tissues. We also have an area with hair dryers and hair straightener. Feel free to bring your own items that may cater to your individual needs such as a comb, brush or lotions.
Each pod is fitted with an emergency button on the left hand side. A staff member will attend promptly to assist you.
All of the rooms are identical, fitted out with individual showers for your privacy.
Yes we have clients who have claimed float therapy under NDIS, WorkCover, TAC, Aged Care and Veteran Affairs. If you are a participant in any of these funds speak to your case coordinator/manager about including floating in your plan. Speak to us about your particular situation. Only 1 private health insurer includes float therapy: GU Health. Unfortunately no other companies are covering float at this time. If enough people lobby their insurance company this could change. Get onto yours, tell them you want float therapy included in your extras cover.
Any condition exacerbated by stress. Floating decreases: blood pressure, heart rate and cortisol levels. It also frees the body of 90% of its neuro muscular activity and releases tension from muscle fibres. Many pain and stress conditions can be managed or treated as a result of these positive effects such as: Agoraphobia, Anxiety disorders, Anorexia nervosa, Chronic muscle tension pain in back and neck, Chronic pain, Chronic tension headaches, Comorbid major depressive disorder, Fibromyalgia, Hypertension, Insomnia, Panic disorder, Parkinson’s Disease, Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Stress-related pain with “burnout depression”.
New to floating? We recommend 3 floats over a 2–3 week period to help your body and mind adjust and feel the benefits. If you’re floating for stress or a specific issue, weekly sessions can help at first, then taper to fortnightly. The relaxing effects can last up to a week, and consistency is key for lasting results.
Yes, floating can greatly assist with any aches and pain associated with menstruation. The Magnesium Sulphate can assist with PMS and period pain. For hygiene reasons additional precautions need to be taken during menstruation, sanitary products such as tampons or menstrual cups must be used to ensure no leakage during the float as you would expect in a spa or swimming pool.
Absolutely, the benefits are most notable in the second and third trimester. The water is 35 degrees, no fear of overheating. The Magnesium Sulphate is absorbed by the skin providing countless benefits. The gravity free environment alleviates pressure from the joints that carrying the baby creates on the mother’s body. Some women have reported being able to hear their baby’s heart beat while floating. Always check your specific pregnancy circumstances with your health practitioner before you float. We do recommend that women in their 3rd trimester bring along a support person to help them in and out of the pod if needed.
Most individuals who are claustrophobic have no problems with floating. The pods are quite spacious, lids can be kept open and the pod light left on. After a couple of sessions most floaters with this condition find they are comfortable and float with the lid closed and light off. If there is a problem you can get out at anytime, or push the emergency button for assistance.
You will sleep, continue to float and upon waking feel amazed!
If you have recently dyed your hair a dark/bold colour (ie/ dark red, brown or bright colours) you are not permitted to float until the colour is washing out clean. If you have had a spray tan you need to wait at least 10 days after having the tan. Dyes and fake tan ruin the pod water and stains the pod surface. A cleaning fee will be charged if there is damage due to staining from dyes or tan.
Your ears will be submerged in water through the entire duration of your float. If you have ear issues it is recommended to chat to your treating doctor before floating. Whilst it is not mandatory to wear ear plugs, it is recommended to use ear plugs whilst floating to help avoid salt water getting into your ears. If your ear plugs fall out during your float, do not re-insert them whilst under water, sit up and safely insert them again. You can also easily rinse your ears in the post-float shower if you choose not wear ear plugs or they fall out. Your first pair of ear plugs on your first visit is complementary, we then encourage all floaters to bring their original pair with them for consecutive floats. If you forget, you can purchase an addition pair from our reception staff.
No there is only 40 cms of water and Epsom Salts in each pod, this is more buoyant than the dead sea and 10 times the buoyancy of the ocean. It is impossible not to float once you lay back. Nature takes over and there is nothing for you to do but be present and relax.
Avoid having caffeine or stimulants 4-5 hours prior. Ensure your hair colour runs clear if you’ve coloured your hair. Avoid applying fake tan in the same week. Don’t shave or wax 24 hours beforehand, as your skin may become irritated. Have a light meal a couple of hours before floating.
Anyone suffering from the following is advised not to float for their own safety as well as the safety of all clients: Epilepsy, Extreme low blood pressure, Cryptosporidium, Contagious disease, Infectious skin conditions, Open wounds, Infectious Illness, Diarrhoea or Gastroenteritis until 14 days after the final symptom, Kidney disease, Incontinence. Anyone with the following conditions is advised to check with their health practitioner prior to floating: Heart condition, Asthma, Allergies to Salts/Bromine/Magnesium, Severe Skin Conditions (Psoriasis/Eczema), Mental Illness Psychosis.
Floating is beneficial to any condition that is exacerbated by stress. We ask patients undergoing chemotherapy to wait 2 weeks after their last treatment before floating and always consult your oncologist. You may benefit from high density Epsom salt baths at home during this time as it may not be as intense a detox that you would receive from float therapy, some individuals have found they can feel nausea given the intense detox a float tank provides.
The internal dimensions of the pod are 2.27m long and 1.39m wide, the size of a small car! You will be surprised how big they are.
After each session, the whole body of water cycles through a filtration system containing UV lamps and a micron filter 4-6 times. The water is also treated with a small amount of chlorine in line with health regulations and the 500kg of Epsom Salts dissolved in the water acts as a natural disinfectant. We regularly test and balance the water throughout the day.
Generally floaters must be 16 years or over, individuals under this age will require parental consent and supervision.
No other than the size of the pod which is 2.27m long and 1.39m wide, alongside the individual’s ability to enter the pod. We have had individuals up to 160kgs float comfortably.
Yes, online e-gift cards give you the option to personalise your gift card to suit the occasion. Gift cards are valid for 3 years from the date of purchase, unless otherwise specified (ie/ limited time specials). They will become void after this time. Gift cards are always a value amount, and although Gravity design vouchers to equal the amount of our current service offerings, the gift card is essentially a value amount that can be used toward any product or service.
Magnesium Sulphate (Epsom Salts used in our pods) and Magnesium Chloride (Dead Sea salts) are both Magnesium Salts. When either Magnesium Chloride or Epsom Salt are diluted into water the bonds separate, so if both products were diluted into the bath water at the same time we would have 3 separate minerals: Magnesium on its own, Sulphates on their own, Chlorides on their own. As the bonds separate, we uptake those 3 elements separately. Therefore, whether the Magnesium is initially bound to Chlorides or Sulphates becomes inconsequential as it is readily up-taken as Magnesium! Although both products have similar levels of Elemental Magnesium, the Chlorides and Sulphates it’s initially bound to are equally important as each one plays a different important role within the body, and provide different essential elements. Transdermal therapy is by far the best method of absorption. Alternating between the two products can be very beneficial, epsom salts when floating and Magnesium Chloride in your bath at home, ensuring you are replenishing cells with all three minerals.
Ultimately, there are no difference between open float pools and a float pod. With a pod, you have the option to leave the lid up and the light on, essentially providing a similar experience to an open pool. The benefit with being in a pod, is you get to cocoon yourself in and retain some of the warmth within the pod also. We advocate for pod/tank floats so that you are more aligned with the float benefits, allowing you to get the best out of the experience.
At Gravity we offer float therapy as a therapeutic experience. As such all of our float rooms are for the individual. Couple float experiences tend to be novelty, and not in line with the therapeutic model of float therapy.
Gravity uses a small amount of Chlorine in our float pods to ensure no microorganisms or biofilm are introduced between sessions. Although the 600kgs of Epsom salt is naturally antimicrobial, chlorine provides necessary, active disinfection. Furthermore the pods are filtered up to 5 times between sessions and users shower beforehand, only very low levels of chlorine are needed compared to swimming pools. It adds another layer of hygiene to the salts, using UV sanitisation and filtering to ensure everyone’s safety.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. Book your first session and let our team guide you to the right therapy for where your body is right now. One hour with us can change how you feel for the rest of the week.
Have been a few times and got something different out of it each time, It is definitely worth going at least twice.
Friendly and warm environment. A unique experience like no other. The staff are amazing and are always up for a chat. It’s a really good mini get away from busy life. ( even if its only for an hour ) ,)
This was my first float experience and I absolutely loved it! The staff were really friendly and the facilities were clean and exactly as advertised. Love the space themed room names.
Great experience. The rooms are clean, service is excellent and I got exactly what was promised. The products in the shower are nice too. The introductory offer is a great way to sample floating.
As John Lennon said, “Turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream”. This is a great experience, in a great facility, with a friendly team to support you on your trip into the ultimate relaxed state. Go on, you know you want to…
Such a special place! I feel calmer as soon as I walk in the door. Staff are wonderful, and floating itself is such a unique experience. Always dreaming about when I can go back! ❤️
I had a float a while back! Amazing experience, highly recommend for athletes and regular health practitioners, great for relaxing the muscles. Definitely looking forward to my next float.

This place is absolutely divine. From the super friendly, welcoming, pleasant staff to the gorgeous pod float rooms that are immaculately clean. This has to be THE best float centre I have ever visited. Float therapy is my definite go-to for relaxation. The best way I can reset and re-energize. I always walk out feeling like a brand new person and can’t wait to come back every time. Love love love!!
What a fabulous place to relax! I have been going for a year now and always look forward the next float. The staff are extremely friendly and the pods/ rooms are always sparkling clean. Just bought a 10 pack, can’t wait to go back again. Thank you to all the staff for their friendliness and for going the extra mile to make you feel welcome.
Best therapy for clearing creative blocks and for complete muscle and mind relaxation. I love the staff, the rooms and the pods are spotless. I have recently bought a membership as I can’t imagine not incorporating regular floats into my weekly routine. Highly recommend as the results are instantaneous and ongoing.

Well my first experience of an isolation tank for my Winter aches and pains. I decided to take up the Introductory offer of 3 floats. Thoroughly “blissed out” with the total darkness, isolation and gravity free sensation. When the music came back on I just wanted to be left there and really wanted the experience to last longer. Yes, I enjoyed the whole experience thoroughly and look forward to my next 2 floatations with the Gravity Floatation Centre.
The anti-gravity is extremely relaxing and helps greatly with sleep. I saw immediate improvements with my skin, my acne calmed down and cleared up quickly after my float, very satisfied!!
